Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-01
In short
- You can use Moi Calendar without an account. Your calendars, pictures and recordings then stay on your device, and we do not receive them.
- With an account, we store your calendars on servers in the EU, so they sync between your devices and with the people you share them with.
- We do not sell your personal data, and Moi Calendar shows no advertising.
- Usage statistics from the app are anonymous. Crash reports do not include the content of your calendars.
Who we are
Moi Calendar is made by My Own Company Oy Ab (business ID 3434307-9), Turku, Finland. We are the controller of the personal data this policy describes. For anything about privacy, write to myowninteractions@gmail.com.
This policy covers the Moi Calendar app on iOS, Android and the web, this website, and conversations with our support.
Using Moi Calendar without an account
Without an account, everything you put in Moi Calendar (activities, pictures, drawings, recordings and videos) is stored on your device and is not sent to us. The app still sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, described below.
What we collect when you have an account
- Account details: your name, email address and, if you add one, a profile picture. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they share your name and email address with us. Apple may give us a private relay address instead. If you sign in with a code, we email the code to you.
- Your calendars: what you put in them (activities, pictures, drawings, recordings, videos and settings) and who they are shared with.
- Devices and service records: which devices are signed in (device type, platform, app version), and the technical records our servers keep when your devices connect, such as times, IP addresses and errors.
- Your plan: which plan you have and its status. Payments are handled by Apple, Google or Stripe, and we do not receive your full card details.
Other information we collect
- Usage statistics from the app: anonymous information about how the app is used, such as which features are opened and how often. They are not linked to your account or your name, and they contain no calendar content.
- How accounts use Moi Calendar: to understand how the service is used, we measure it from our own service records under a pseudonymous account identifier, with device type, platform and dates, and keep these in our analytics tool. Your name, email address and calendar content are not included.
- Crash reports: when the app crashes or runs into an error, it sends a technical report (device model, operating system, app version and what went wrong). It does not include the content of your calendars.
- This website: we count visits without cookies and without storing anything on your device. Forms on the site use a bot check to keep out spam. The web app and sign-in store only what they need to keep you signed in.
- Waiting list, invitations and newsletter: your email address, so we can send what you asked for. We send the newsletter only if you subscribe, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Support: if you contact us by email or through the support chat, we keep the conversation and the contact details you give us. The support chat is used only when you contact support.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide Moi Calendar: your account, sign-in, sync, backup, sharing, invitations and your plan. Legal basis: our contract with you.
- To keep Moi Calendar reliable and secure: crash reports, service records and protecting the service from abuse and spam. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a service that works and is safe.
- To improve Moi Calendar: anonymous usage statistics, pseudonymous account usage and website visit counts. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which parts of Moi Calendar are used and where it falls short.
- To answer you: support conversations. Legal basis: our contract with you, or our legitimate interest in helping the people who contact us.
- To send the newsletter: legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To meet legal obligations: such as accounting records. Legal basis: the law that requires it.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means alone that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Who can see your data
- The people you share a calendar with. Members of a calendar see what is in it, and each other's name, profile picture and email address. You decide whom to invite, and you can remove them.
- Our service providers. They process data on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions: hosting and storage, email delivery, crash reporting, product analytics, customer support, spam and bot protection, app delivery and updates, and payments. The providers we use today include Hetzner (servers and storage), Mailgun (email), Sentry (crash reports), PostHog (analytics), Crisp (support chat), Cloudflare (the bot check on forms) and Expo (app updates).
- Apple, Google and Stripe when you sign in or pay with them. They also act under their own privacy policies.
- Authorities, when the law requires us to disclose data.
- A new owner, if the company or Moi Calendar is sold or merged. This policy would continue to apply to your data.
We do not sell your personal data.
Where your data is stored
Your account and calendars are stored on servers in the EU, at Hetzner in Finland and Germany. Some of our providers may process limited data outside the EU and EEA, such as an email address or a crash report. When they do, the transfer is protected by a safeguard the GDPR recognises: an adequacy decision of the European Commission (including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, for providers certified under it) or the Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Your account and calendars: for as long as your account is open. When you close it, it is deleted after a 30-day grace period, in which you can change your mind. Copies in our backups are removed as those backups expire.
- If a paid plan ends: your calendars stay on your devices, and we keep the server copy for up to 24 months after the plan ends (12 months after a free trial that was not continued), so you can come back. Then it is deleted. You can delete your account sooner.
- Usage statistics, crash reports and service records: for a limited time, then deleted or kept only in aggregate.
- Support conversations: for as long as we need them to help you, and a reasonable time afterwards.
- Waiting list and newsletter: until you unsubscribe or we no longer need the address for what you signed up for.
- Purchase and accounting records: for as long as Finnish accounting law requires.
- Content on your device: stays until you delete it or remove the app.
Your rights
You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its use, to receive it in a portable format, to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent you have given. Write to myowninteractions@gmail.com and we will answer within one month.
You can delete your account in the app (Settings › Account › Delete account) or on the web.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Finland, that is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi). You can also complain to the authority where you live or work.
Children
Moi Calendar is for anyone, and a calendar may hold information about a child, such as a daily routine or photos, added by a parent, carer or another adult. The person who adds it is responsible for having the right to do so.
To create an account, you must be old enough to consent to the processing of your personal data where you live (13 in Finland). We do not knowingly let younger children create accounts, and if we learn that one has, we will close it.
Security
We protect your data with measures suited to it, such as encrypted connections and restricted access, and we choose providers who do the same. No service is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change matters to how we handle your data, we will tell account holders by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
